The Raising of the Glove is an annual ceremony held on the Minster Green to mark the granting of the town's charter to hold eight days of fairs every year. The event was the inspiration for The Cherry Fayre and this year opens the eight-day festival. Come down to Trinity Square, the Market and the Church Green on Thursday 21st June for the official ceremony at 11am, along with some surprises from Axminster Heritage Centre and Punch and Judy shows at 1.15pm and 4pm.
Food produce and street food market, food demonstrations and workshops, live music and a children's fun fair, the evening of Friday 29th June (4pm - 9pm) is set to be a wonderful time for grub and fun. Lock the kitchen door behind you and head down to town instead of cooking at home.
Light Up Axminster's very own Graham Barton (BBC's Homes Under The Hammer auctioneer) will be leading the biggest charity auction Axminster has seen. The evening takes place on Saturday 23rd June. Doors open at 7pm, with the auction getting under way at 8pm. Lots and lots of wonderful LOTS are coming in, don't miss out on an item money can't normally buy!
We are pleased to be running another Cherry Fayre special Pizza and Quiz night at Le Pisani on Sunday 24th June. Tickets cost £10pp (including pizza), and teams should be of either 2 (one pizza to share), 4 (two pizzas to share) or 6 (three pizzas to share).
