Grand Christmas Lantern Parade and Festive Light Switch-on Event

Lightng Up 2019 Saturday 23rd November.

It is with great sadness that we have to say we were unsuccessful in our application to the Arts Council for funding to run the lantern parade this year. The project costs £14,000 and includes artists running lantern making, animation, song and music and window decorating arts workshops, materials for all the activities, staging for the final event, marketing and the time to manage the project. We are really sad to see these elements go this year, but we a re determined to secure funding for next year.

 

Despite this, we will still be holding the Christmas Market and Christmas Light Switch On Event, with activities taking place from 3pm on Saturday 23rd November.

 

This year's event will be focussed in and around Chard Street and Victoria Place where the Christmas Lights will be switched on for the first time. You will see us and our wonderful electrician Michael Beviss busying ourselves with the instalation of the electrical works and hooks to support the Christmas lights over the coming weeks. Give us a friendly hello, and please do ask any questions you may have!
